Board of Education Meeting

December 10, 2007

The regular meeting of the Shelby Board of Education was held on Monday, December 10, 2007, at 5:30 p.m. in the Shelby Public School.  Notice of meeting was posted at (1) Shelby Public School, (2) Pinnacle Bank, and (3) Shelby Food Mart on or before December 4, 2007.

Meeting called to order by Jeff Scow at 5:30 p.m.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Doug Moon to excuse Jason Ingalls.

Visitors Present:  Janice Bonsack, Rebecca Reyes and Mary Gillespie

At the beginning of this meeting Jeff Scow announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meeting Act is posted on the Southwest wall of the meeting room.

Administrative Reports

Mr. Curry presented the secondary principal report.  He reported on the journalism class.

Mr. Stick presented the Superintendents Report. He reported on NRSCA legislative forum; ADT building security assessment; NRSCA spring conference on March 12&13 and the NCSA Legislative preview covering carryover legislation and 403 (b) plans.

During the public forum portion of the meeting Becky Reyes addressed the board.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Roy Houdersheldt to accept the resignation of Lisa Euse as a SPED paraprofessional.

The discussion items were School Board Goals; Board Policy 300.28 – Attendance and third grade student numbers.

Motion by Jacob Nekl, second by Doug Moon to enter executive session at 6:30 p.m.

Session to discuss were personnel issues.

Motion by Doug Moon, second by Roy Houdersheldt to recess from the meeting at 6:57 for the elementary Christmas program.
