Board of Education Meeting

October 8, 2007

The regular meeting of the Shelby Board of Education was held on Monday, October 8, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. in the Shelby Public School.  Notice of meeting was posted at (1) Shelby Public School, (2) Pinnacle Bank, and (3) Shelby Food Mart on or before October 2, 2007.

Meeting called to order by Jeff Scow at 8:00 p.m.

     Roy Houdersheldt, Jason Ingalls, Doug Moon

Visitors Present:  Mary Gillespie, Terry Chadek

At the beginning of this meeting Jeff Scow announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meeting Act is posted on the Southwest wall of the meeting room.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the agenda.

Administrative Reports

Mr. Chadek presented the athletic director/activities director report. He reported the volleyball conference will be held this week; the last Jr. High football game will be next week and conference vocal will be here on November 13.

Mr. Curry presented the secondary principal report.  He reported on the math portfolio is due on October 30; a financial aide meeting was held for seniors and the band received good comments from the Harvest of Harmony Parade.

Mr. Stick presented the Superintendents Report. He reported on student enrollment being 302 and the district audit.

The discussion items were substitute salary, looking in the future for building expansion needs, the condition of the north side football crow’s nest, concrete needed for the garage entrance and school board goals.

Motion by Jacob Nekl, second by Doug Moon to enter executive session at 8:50 p.m.

Session to discuss were personnel issues.

Motion by Doug Moon, second by Jeff Kuhnel to leave executive session at 9:50 p.m. and re-enter the regular meeting.
