The regular meeting of the Shelby Board of Education was held on Monday, August 13, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Shelby Public School. Notice of meeting was posted at (1) Shelby Public School, (2) Pinnacle Bank, and (3) Shelby Food Mart on or before August 7, 2007.

At the beginning of this meeting Jeff Scow announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meeting Act is posted on the Southwest wall of the meeting room.

Administrative Reports
Mr. Stick presented the Athletic director report/activities director report. There are 25 girls out for volleyball and 25 out for football and the booster club steak fry will be Saturday August 18.
Mr. Curry presented the secondary principal report. He reported there are 131 students in 7-12 grades, distant learning room and ACT scores from last year.
Mr. Stick presented the Superintendents Report. He reported on the summer projects and summer reading workshops that were attended this summer.
Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the classified salary increase of 3.7% for the 2007-2008 school year. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Jacob Nekl, second by Roy Houdersheldt to approve the engagement letter for the 2006-2007 school audit by Pekny, Marohn and Associates. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Doug Moon, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the resignation of Lori Klitz as a kindergarten teacher for Shelby Public School. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Jacob Nekl to approve the offer of a contract to Rhiannon Johnson to be a Kindergarten teacher for SPS for the 2007-2008 school year. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Doug Moon, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the handbooks for the 2007-2008 school year. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Jacob Nekl, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the Columbus Area Midget Football program request to use the school’s football field for games this fall. Motion Passed: 6/0/0
Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Doug Moon to approve the recommendation by the superintendent to hire the following classified personnel:
Teacher Aide – Theresa Logan Special Education Aide – Susan Reichmuth Cook – Margie Morrison
