Board of Education Meeting

September 11, 2007

 

The regular meeting of the Shelby Board of Education was held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at 8:00 p.m. in the Shelby Public School.  Notice of meeting was posted at (1) Shelby Public School, (2) Pinnacle Bank, and (3) Shelby Food Mart on or before September 5, 2007.

 

Meeting called to order by Jeff Scow at 8:00 p.m.

     Roy Houdersheldt, Jason Ingalls, Doug Moon

Administrators Present:  Larry Stick, William Curry

At the beginning of this meeting Jeff Scow announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meeting Act is posted on the Southwest wall of the meeting room.

 

Motion by Doug Moon, second by Jeff Kuhnel to approve the amended agenda.

Motion by Roy Houdersheldt, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the minutes.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Roy Houdersheldt to approve the claims.

Motion Passed: 6/0/0

 

Motion by Doug Moon, second by Jason Ingalls to approve the treasurer’s report.

Administrative Reports

 

Mr. Curry presented the secondary principal report.  He reported that eligibility reports started this week, there have been some issues with the dress code, homecoming is September 21 and on September 24 there will be a school assembly for the high school.

 

Mr. Stick presented the Superintendents Report. He reported on student enrollment.

 

Any approval on the enrollment option request for a student to Columbus High School died due to the lack of motion.

 

Motion by Roy Houdersheldt, second by Doug Moon to access the applicable allowable of 3.3805 by 1%.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Jacob Nekl to approve the personal and real property tax request of $2,026,025.70 and the special building fund request of $38,756.78. The total request is $2,064,782.48.

Motion by Doug Moon, second by Roy Houdersheldt to exceed the $1.00 levy limitation by an amount equal to $0.05 to make the levy $1.05.

Motion by Jeff Kuhnel, second by Jeff Scow to approve the 2007-2008 district budget as presented.

Motion Passed: 6/0/0

 

The discussion items were substitute salary and football student supervision.

 

Motion by Jason Ingalls, second by Jeff Kuhnel to approve the recommendation by the superintendent to hire the following classified personnel:

 

Part-time Reading Aide – Sara Neujahr

English Language Learner Aide – Terry Natividad
