Students who fail to be promoted, according to this policy, can request a hearing.  This must be done in writing to the building principal.

Please refer to board policy 300.31 for more details regarding this process.

What Grade am I?

7th Grade:  Students who have been promoted from 6th Grade

8th Grade:  Students who passed 100% of 7th Grade core

                      courses and at least 80% of non- core courses.

9th Grade:  Students who passes 100% of 8th Grade core

        courses and at least 80% of non-core courses.

10th Grade: Students who have passed 60 credit hours or more

                        by the beginning of the current academic year.

11th Grade:  Students who have passed 120 credit hours or

                    more by the beginning of the current academic year.

12th Grade:  Students who have passes 180 credit hours or

     more by the beginning of the current academic year.

A student cannot change classification during the year.

A student cannot skip a classification

Final determination of placement for all transfer students will be made by the guidance counselor & the secondary principal.

Graduation Requirements & Registration Options:

In order to graduate from Shelby Public Schools, there are minimum requirements that must be met.  We will talk to you in more detail about this when you register for classes.  All of our graduation requirements are explained in board policy 300.08.  (Registration options are in board policy 300.09).  Be sure to ask questions if you don’t understand.  Remember….
