There are a lot of “details” regarding student health, emergency care & precautions, required immunizations, and other areas our school nurse assists us with on a day to day basis.  Please refer to board policy 700.03 – 700.06 for a detailed guide through this process.

Flowchart: Alternate Process: Let’s Get Physical…

All students must have evidence of a physical exam prior to enrolling in Kindergarten & 7th Grade.
Transfer students at every grade level will need to provide evidence of a physical exam.

(If your family objects to this, there is a process in board policy to follow.)
Flowchart: Alternate Process: Emergency Care:

We will always attempt to notify parents when a student becomes ill or injured.

We will not send students home without parental permission.
Flowchart: Alternate Process: Student Insurance

SPS carries only catastrophic insurance & insurance for students riding the bus. Students who participate in sports / activities must have their own insurance.
Flowchart: Alternate Process: Medication in school

Here is some of what you need to know about bringing medication to school. More details can be found in board policy 700.06.

1. FILL OUT A FORM (There is a form at the beginning of this handbook you need to fill out and return to the office before you will be allowed to bring any medicine to school.
2. MEDICINE MUST BE IN A PROPERLY LABLED CONTAINER (Pharmacists will often provide two containers, home & school, upon request.)
3. MEDICINE STAYS IN THE OFFICE – NOT YOUR LOCKER! You are not allowed to keep things like aspirin, prescriptions, or other types of medicine in your locker. Everything will be kept safe in the office and we will make arrangements for you to get what you need when you need it.
