Flowchart: Alternate Process: Classroom Discipline:

Our classroom discipline policy is primarily aimed at maintaining a constructive learning environment. Students will be held to the following minimal expectations:

ĜArrive to class prepared
ĜUse work time appropriately
ĜComplete assigned tasks on time
ĜDemonstrate respect for people and property
ĜRespond appropriately to staff directives

We have great students at SPS. We ask that all students maintain a high standard with regards to their behaviors in the classroom. If a student chooses not to comply with these basic standards, they may be asked to problem solve with the teacher using a pre-determined procedure called PIPPS (Performance Improvement Problem Solving System). The system is based on communication. A form is filled out by the student and teacher. Copies of this form are sent to our Student Assistance Team Coordinator as well as mailed home.

Our PIPPS Process:

Student Consequences

Please Note

*Grade Level Support Staff = teachers in developmentally grouped grade ranges (K-3, 4-6, 7-12)

1. Detentions will be served within one day of being issued and will be used as a time for the classroom teacher and student to complete a problem solving form.  Refusal to complete a problem solving form will result in a one-day in-school suspension.

2. Suspensions will be served the following day of being issued.

3. Students failing to attend a detention without making prior arrangements with the classroom teacher will receive a one-day in-school suspension.

4. Students receiving three strikes at a given level, creates the need for a mandated meeting with designated staff to occur within five school days.  If a parent/guardian is not able to meet at the scheduled time, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to reschedule the meeting within the five school days.  Failure to meet will result in the student being removed from school until a meeting is conducted.
