All Shelby-Rising City Elementary students in grades K-5 who earned a Book-It end of year certificate traveled to Wayne State College on Monday, May 13th for a special reading reward. Students attending this trip spent six months meeting personal reading goals during the months of October through March for the Book-It family reading program. Dr. Todd Young, of Wayne State college, and several colleagues hosted our group of over 150 students along with several teachers. SRC students rotated through various fun activities including a planetarium presentation, natural history museum scavenger hunt, problem solving puzzles, and science demonstrations. Students also enjoyed checking out the football field and eating an outdoor lunch at the Willow Bowl. A yummy snack for the drive home was provided by Crystal Zimmerman, one of our awesome Book-It volunteers. This activity was funded by our generous Shelby-Rising City Booster Club. We are very grateful for the SRC Booster Club's continued generosity and support of families and reading!
